Its time to focus once again on the glacier clad Western Alps where a DIYS (do it yourself) splitboarder is taking advantage of endless untracked slopes. Wether its surfing waves or snow Federicos life revolves around the outdoors averaging over 80 days of riding for the past twenty years. I was happy to have a few words with him about his previous experiences and his passion about splitboarding.

Our next stop takes us back to the Heart of North America in a area filled with cowboys and couloirs. Jeramie Prine is a talented yet humble splitboarder who has made a life for himself at the base of the Teton Range, A area famous for unobstructed vertical rises from valley floor to the high alpine summits. As well as being a great rider he is also a innovator creating a now annual tradition called “Scrubfest”in which like minded splitboarders meet up in the Tetons. This concept was so successful that 7 years later there are splitfests all over the country. Fortunately he was able to fit in some time between his teaching and family life to let us in on his amazing journeys and experience gained over the past 9 years.

Our next interview takes us half way around the world and deep into a culture that has deep roots in ski Mountaineering. Enrico Raccanelli is a avid splitboarder based out of the Italian Alps where he is supplied with endless mountaineering opportunities. With Big name peaks under his belt like Mount Blanc and Antelao he is a welcome addition to this series. Enrico posts on splitboard.it the Italian version of splitboard.com and was kind enough to take a few minute to let me know what it’s like to grow up in the shadow of such iconic peaks.

For the inaugural interview I focused on a big mountain rider based out of the North American mecca, Revelstoke. I had the good fortune to meet Mark years ago and have had the pleasure to watch his backcountry experience grow over time slowly gaining notoriety as being in the forefront of the splitboard revolution. When he is not busy slanging coffee beans or working on his garden, he is up in the high alpine slaying lines most of us would only dream of. I got the opportunity to talk with Mark and he was kind enough to answer a few questions.
