The ski tours near Mount Baker and Highway 542 are the places you can find some of the deepest snow in the world. This page focuses on 10 different ski tours from North Twin Sister to Ruth Mountain. With the world record for the most snow in a season Mount Baker ski resort can get 30 inches of new snow while other places receive 1/3 of that. With the ski resort situated between Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan the clouds are forced through the area. Mount Baker is world renown and the place of legends. With epic tree skiing and North facing slopes it is a ski touring mecca.

You can break most of the area to two separate zones from the west of the ski resort to the east of the resort. In both directions there is amazing sub alpine zone and the massive North side of Mount Shuksan. Below is some of the trips I have been fortunate to ride while ski touring on Mount Baker and Highway 542.

From Coleman Pinnacles to the North Twin sisters there are three main roads to ski tour from. First is the Mount Baker Heather Meadows parking lot. At this moment there is a heated debate weather ski touring from there may not be possible anymore without a seasons pass though. The Second is the Glacier Creek road which gives you access to Mount Baker the Volcano near the town of Glacier. The third is from Mosquito Lake road to access the Twin Sisters Range.

From the Shuksan Arm to Mount Ruth there are two main roads to ski tour from. These are the White Salmon parking lot at Mount Baker ski resort and the Ruth Creek Road. Between both of these area is the Mount Shuksan and Icy Peak. I was able to explore the area a few years back via the Nooksack Traverse. The most famous line in this area is the North side of Mount Shuksan with a 4000 foot North face. From November to June this is a great place to find some steep skiing.
